The Next Chapter: Expanding Community Engagement
Library Renovation Project
The Upper Dublin Public Library is entering an exciting new phase—continuing to evolve as a center for community engagement.
With the relocation of Upper Dublin Police and Township meetings to the newly built Township building in December 2025, the Library is now poised to reclaim and reimagine its spaces for community use. This $3.3 million project represents a major investment in the Library’s future, with nearly half of the funding provided through grants and private donations.
A key driver of this project was the Commissioners’ decision to relocate 3,000 square feet of planned community rooms from the Township building to the Library. This shift reduced the size and cost of the new Township building while redirecting those resources to the more centrally located Library. It also unlocked $1.5 million in matching funds through grants and private support—maximizing impact and strengthening shared community resources. Construction is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2026.
What This Project Will Achieve
Community Rooms
Create 3,000 square feet of flexible space for Township events and community use, relocated from the Township building.
Café
Restore the building’s original cafeteria—used as a temporary police station since the 2021 tornado—and return it to community use.
Auditorium
Expand the stage and seating capacity, with modern lighting and enhanced technology to support a wider range of events and programs.
Meeting Rooms
Add seamless hybrid meeting capabilities and improved soundproofing for greater privacy and flexibility.
As the project progresses, this page will provide updates on construction milestones and improvements taking shape throughout the Library.

Public Meeting Timeline
In an effort to ease the navigation of public meetings regarding the Library Renovation Project and further transparency, the Township has constructed a timeline of public meetings where the Library Renovation Project has been discussed along with a link to the recorded meeting and supporting documents.
Navigating the Information
Please expand the menu item below called "Public Meeting Timeline" to view the list of public meetings in chronological order. Under each public meeting, all agenda items concerning the Library Renovation Project have been listed along with a link to the recorded meeting. Each agenda item listed will have a timestamp indicating where that discussion took place within the linked recording.
This page will be updated with information as this project progresses.
This project is funded in part by a grant from the U.S. Department of the Treasury, under the administration of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority. Additional support comes from the Office of Commonwealth Libraries, Pennsylvania Department of Education, with funds provided from the Keystone Recreation, Park, and Conservation Fund.
Additional support for the auditorium renovations is provided through the generous contributions of Bonnie & Donald Shanis and the Friends of Upper Dublin Public Library.
